Menin Gate revisited
Dunvant Male Choir from Swansea, South Wales will sing “Abide with me” at the Menin Gate, 49 years since the choir sang it there first on 8th August 1966.
The Welsh choir will be returning from celebrating 50 years of choral harmony with the German Male Choir “Sängervereinigung 1866 – Essen Burgaltendorf” who first came to Dunvant in 1965, and will celebrate their 150th anniversary of their formation next year.

Dunvant Male Choir performed at the 30,032nd official Last Post Celebration at the Menin Gate, Ypres,
Both Mr Jeff Speke from the West Country and Dewi Morgan (Choir Chairman) lay wreaths while the Choir, with soprano soloist Jessica Pyart-Thomas, sang a special arrangement for the ocassion of "Abide with me".
The wreath laying and the buglles playing the traditional "The Last Post" was interspaced with the reading "Exhortation" and the "Epitaph" by the wreath laying representatives
The choir were thanked by the Organising Officer for performing the celebration "Maintaining Great Dignity and aplomb throughout".
Grey - trippers
All is a cacophonous kerfuffle of onomatopoetic scuffing and ruffling as bags, burdensome and voluminous, are ensconced below, crammed into the cramped belly of our twin, equine steeds of steel.
Reticence is not in residence; reserve ushered into reverse.
Matey camaraderie and bonny bonhomie rat-a -tat-tat to and frenetic fro, with brio unbridled, while that caricature clan clambers aboard, clutter a-clatter.
Gregarious and garrulous are we, leonine men, feline women.

We came a creditable 2nd in a strong field of five choirs, in a late night decision at Cardigan.
On American Independance day the 60 strong Dunvant Choir travelling west through Wales' vibrant coutryside on a beautiful summers day.
Jonathan Rogers led the choir with Hywel Evans accompanying with the two contrasting items "Gwinllan a rhodwyd i'm gofal" Caradog Williams and "American Trilogy" Alwyn Humphreys, concluded the five choir competition to much applause.
